The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey (AASP/NJ) supports the passage of a new law
that eliminates the requirement that collision shops purchase more insurance than they need in order to maintain an
auto body repair license in the state. Previously, all New Jersey collision shops needed to carry $300,000 in
garage keepers’ insurance, regardless of whether or not the size of their business required this amount. Under the
new law, this amount has been lowered to $50,000.
