Press releases that crossed my desk recently show changing vehicle makeups. One announced a joint
venture between PSA Peugeot Citroen (all one company now) and Mitsubishi Motors to develop an all-electric
powertrain. Bosch has a joint venture with Samsung to produce lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. GM plans
in two years to begin selling the Chevrolet Volt, which uses only the electric motor to deliver power to the
wheels. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz plans to begin selling hydrogen fuel cell cars in 2010, and Honda will begin
leasing its second-generation fuel cell cars in California this year.
