Yang Jie, general manager of sales at SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile (SGMW), a joint venture between GM
China, SAIC and Liuzhou Wuling Motors recently told reporters at the launch ceremony of Baojun 630, a new SGMW
model, that SGMW has set a sales goal of 20,000 units this year for the Baojun 630. Sources said SGMW’s
shareholders have asked for a passenger vehicles sales goal of 200,000 units for the next year. The Baojun 630 will
be available at a price of between 60,000 yuan (approx. US$9,231) and 80,000 yuan (approx. US$12,307). The JV
intends to resume its passenger vehicles business with a low ownership cost strategy for the new
brand.
